JYSK

JYSK, Danish retailer of furniture and homewares, currently has over 1350 stores in 29 countries with an annual turnover of nearly €2 billion and about 12,000 employees. After entering the Czech market in 2003 the company decided to start cooperation with Contactel, a predecessor of GTS Novera (as of 1st. October 2010 GTS Czech), as a provider of telecommunication services. Since then the range of telecommunications services provided by GTS Novera continues to expand with the coverage extending outside the Czech Republic.

Gradual development of cooperation

At the start of the cooperation with JYSK was the installation of GTS Frame Relay. This is a professional high-quality telecommunication solution designed for large company networks. Novera frame relay enables the companies to cut their operation costs while providing high-quality, safe and reliable data transfer service.

In time, as JYSK continued opening new stores in the Czech Republic, the demand on data transfer capacity continued to increase and there was also a need to provide a new telephone connection in the company’s headquarters. GTS Novera then came with a new solution, GTS Total Business, which allows provision of full telecommunication services. The main advantage of this solution is the flexibility allowing continual adjustment of the volume of services as the number of JYSK stores continues to increase. At present JYSK already has 36 stores in the Czech Republic and 7 in Slovakia.

Telecommunication services in Central Europe

With a need for the best possible connection of the markets in Central Europe, in 2007 the cooperation between JYSK and GTS Novera has been expanded outside the Czech Republic. Through its parent GTS Central Europe, GTS Novera installed a modern MPLS data network connecting dozens of JYSK stores in Central Europe, including stores in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Poland and Croatia. It is planned to extend the network to other countries in the future.

The new data network incorporating IP VPN service will allow to improve the whole sales process which JYSK uses in the Central Europe and this will bring benefit to all the customers in the region. With the MPLS technology JYSK will get ahead of competitors and be able to provide top quality services to its customers not only now but also in the coming years.

Selecting the telecommunications operator

To find out what were the reasons for JYSK selecting the new MPLS network from GTS Central Europe to address all its telecommunication needs, it is necessary to go back to the origin of the retailer. Danish word ‘jysk’ describes a person who comes from Jutland, the largest region in Denmark. “In Danish, the word ‘jysk’ means ‘from or of Jutland’ but it is also used to describe values such as honesty, integrity and modesty. In other words, ‘jysk’ means trustworthiness and reliability. Hence, a company that can be trusted. That’s how we work and how we approach our customers. And, of course, we expect that from our suppliers. That’s why it wasn’t easy to select network provider, it was a difficult decision to make but I must say that we are happy with the decision we’ve made,” said Rene Kristiansen, IT Manager for JYSK.

“JYSK has a clear vision to become a leading supplier of furniture and homewares in Europe; that’s what they said to us at the very beginning. For a developing company it is an ambitious target. And for us it was a challenge to provide a network that would fully satisfy all requirements of such ambitious company,“ added Stuart Evers, CEO of GTS Novera.

Attractive solution for customers

The latest outcome of the cooperation between JYSK retailer and GTS Novera was the installation of the automatic voice IVR system on the contact line for customers. This system works on the basis of the GTS IP Centrex and was adjusted to suit JYST’s requirements. Using the so-called ‘white line’ a customer can make a call from anywhere in the Czech Republic. The automatic voice IVR system on the contact line will give the customer information about the latest promotion offers in JYSK stores or will help the customer to find the nearest store. If required, the customer can be immediately redirected to the nearest store where he can find more information about the furniture or homewares he is looking for.
