In March 2007 the nationwide telecommunications operator GTS Novera signed general contracts for providing data and voice services for Public Administration Communication Infrastructure (KIVS) with the Ministry of Informatics. The new tendering conditions for KIVS were announced by the Ministry of Informatics in relation to the government decision concerning the new concept for KIVS development issued at the end of 2006. Under these new tendering conditions general contracts for provision services can be signed with several service providers.

“The signing of general contracts with several suppliers represents a breakthrough in the provision of telecommunication services to the public administration sector. This brings to the end the five-year period of unhealthy monopoly when the government was preferring one dominant operator. Public sector will now be able to take advantage in consulting offers of several operators as the competition will mean more offers of wide range of services under more advantageous conditions,“ commented the signing of the general contracts Tomáš Budník, Manager of the GTS Novera Technical Division.

In relation to the signing of general contracts, GTS Novera was in June 2007 selected as the Internet connection provider for the central public administration agencies. Connections with speed from 10 up to 155 Mbit/s for each of the agencies will be provided by the end of June 2008. Thanks to the option, which was the part of the contracts, several other organisations were able to join the project including, for example, the Czech Republic Agency for Protection of Nature and Country and the Czech Mining Office. At present tenders for KIVS are under preparation for several new projects and GTS Novera certainly intends to take part.
