  • Redundancy

    With regard to transmission activities it refers to a volume of data that might be removed from the transmission without damaging or limiting the data transmitted. The redundancy ensures that in case of network failure there are neither lost nor damaged any data transmitted because they are duplicated or checked by the redundancy.

  • Router

    A device operating on the third layer of the OSI model (network layer). Due to its knowledge of the network topology it is capable of selecting an optimal further route for the incoming packet. Routers operate with logical addresses.
