  • UDP – User Datagram Protocol

A protocol operating on the fourth level of the OSI model (transport layer). It provides for creating the transport service without the connection (an unreliable protocol).

  • URL – Universal Resource Locator

Standardised addresses for accessing hypertext documents and additional Internet services through a browser.

  • User name

A name under which a user gets connected to a protected user system. In order to be able to work, for example, on a computer network the users must be logged in. A user is usually prompted to enter his or her user name and password. Both entries are then compared to the content of the database of authorised users. Only in the event that a match is found is the user allocated certain rights with respect to accessing the system. These rights are determined by a supervisor. This process increases security for data in the system, as it bars unauthorised users from accessing these data.
