  • VDSL – Very-high-bit rate DSL

    A technology providing for both symmetric and asymmetric transmission along one copper pair. It provides a transmission rate of 36.8 Mbit/s for symmetric transmission and, for asymmetric transmission, up to 52.8 Mbit/s downstream and up to 2.3 Mbit/s upstream.

  • VoD – Video on Demand

    A service that offers customers an option to download video/audio recordings from an Internet server through a broadband network (such as ADSL) and replay them later.

  • VoIP – Voice over IP

    A technology providing for voice transmission. The voice is first digitised, then compressed, packed into packets, and transmitted on the IP network.

  • VPN – Virtual Private Network

    Such a network provides for secure transmission of IP packets on the TCP/IP network by encrypting all communication between terminal nodes.
